Passion isn't Associated with Time.

A gallon of gas was eighty-five cents when my passion for customizing began.

I was sixteen, about to receive my first hand-me-down car — a two-door 1978 Buick LeSabre. Charcoal gray. Faded. Maroon pinstripe. Velvet interior. Pillow-top seats.

My dad and I stood inside Western Auto pricing tires. He talked with the owner about running 50s in the back and 60s or 70s up front. I tried convincing him to put 50s on all four and flip the whitewalls inward.

He couldn’t afford it.

We left with 70s on all four and half-inch whitewalls facing out.

And that moment stuck with me.

Not because of what we couldn’t get — but because I realized something.

This wasn’t a phase.
It wasn’t a trend.
It wasn’t an emotion.

It was who I was.

I’ve battled myself my whole life trying to leave things the way they were purchased.

I couldn’t.

If it came stock, I saw potential.
If it looked finished, I saw vision.

So I’d close my eyes. Clear my mind. And create.

Every car.
Every truck.
Every motorcycle.

Something changed.
